Video: https://youtu.be/Xt-yHCN5QS0<br /><h2>Om stillingen</h2><p>At Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering we have a position for a Professor /Associate Professor within the field of Corrosion and Corrosion Protection.</p><p>The position is part of the Materials and Manufacturing (M&amp;M) research group. This group works on manufacturing processes and the most applied aspects of materials science, i.e. traditional and innovative manufacturing processes, materials degradation and structural integrity, engineering materials and surfaces with desirable properties for specific applications. Our research activities span from fundamental to applied research topics. The group is a multidisciplinary mixture of material and mechanical engineers, physicists, and chemists, bringing a unique footprint to our research work. Our group is also internationally oriented with researchers active in many national and international research projects, groups and programs, externally financed by the EU, the Research Council of Norway and the industry.</p><p>In this position you are expected to develop and conduct research independently, but in context of, and with support from, the research group. Outstanding candidates with documented experience in the following areas, will be prioritized:</p><ul><li>Corrosion properties of corrosion resistant alloys for industrial applications with main focus on sectors/industries such as; marine, maritime, energy, and manufacturing<strong>.</strong></li><li>Corrosion challenges and material selection in Carbon Capture and Storage facilities.</li><li>Coatings and cathodic protection</li><li>Hydrogen Embrittlement</li><li>State of the art environmental mechanical testing and material characterization of metals. </li></ul><p>Your immediate leader is Head of Department Torgeir Welo. </p><br /><h2>Duties of the position</h2><ul><li>International level research in the scientific area of the candidate, resulting in publications in internationally top ranked journals</li><li>Active work to establish contact with Norwegian and international industry to secure relevant education and research and to get funding for research projects</li><li>Initiate new research projects through active marketing and sales to the industry and funding bodies (e.g. EU and The Norwegian Research Council)</li><li>Contributing to, fronting and leading the development of this research area within the research group, department and NTNU level</li><li>Participate in international committees and conferences to establish networks </li><li>Teaching at bachelor, master and PhD levels in relevant study programs in the department</li><li>Supervision of bachelor, master and PhD students and provide mentorship to Postdocs and researchers, exam preparation and evaluation</li><li>Administrative tasks as required</li></ul><br /><h2>Required qualifications </h2><p>You must have the qualifications required for the position of Professor or Associate Professor in the field of Corrosion and Corrosion Protection, as outlined in § 1-2 of the <a href="https://lovdata.no/forskrift/2006-02-09-129/%C2%A71-2" rel="nofollow">regulations concerning appointment and promotion to teaching and research posts</a></p><ul><li>Your academic work must primarily be in the field of Corrosion and Corrosion Protection </li><li>You must have publications in highly ranked journals in your field. Scientific articles published in the last five years (excluding career breaks) with relevance for the research areas mentioned above will weigh strongest in the evaluation and ranking. The scientific publication record will be evaluated in light of the length of the applicant’s academic career taking into account the research field </li><li>You should document at least 5 years research experience after your PhD</li><li>You should have documented experience in supervising master and/or PhD students </li><li>In addition to the requirements for basic educational competence, you must also document:<ul><li>The development of the quality of your own teaching and supervision of students over time</li><li>Participation in improving the quality of education in a professional environment</li></ul></li><li>Excellent written and oral English language skills</li><li>You must have experience from designing and performing advanced experimental tests within the research area of corrosion and corrosion protection</li><li>You must have at least 5 years relevant industrial experience after PhD</li></ul><p> </p><p>You must document relevant basic competence in teaching and supervision at a university/higher education-level, as referenced in the Norwegian national <a href="https://lovdata.no/dokument/SF/forskrift/2006-02-09-129" rel="nofollow">Regulations</a>. If this cannot be documented, you will be required to complete an approved course in university pedagogy within two years of commencement. Video: https://youtu.be/bwfNPj8HxHw<br /><h2>Salary and conditions</h2><p>As an Professor / Associate Professor (code 1013 /1011) you are normally paid from gross 650 000 NOK – 1 000 000 NOK per annum before tax, depending on qualifications and seniority. As required by law, 2% of this salary will be deducted and paid into the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund.</p><p>The engagement is to be made in accordance with the regulations in force concerning <a href="https://lovdata.no/dokument/NL/lov/2017-06-16-67?q&#61;lov%20om%20statens%20ansatt" rel="nofollow">State Employees and Civil Servants,</a> and the acts relating to Control of the Export of Strategic Goods, Services and Technology.
